The Law of Attraction dates back centuries as a metaphysical concept and was publicized in popular 19th & 20th-century novels,(in Romantic novels) and practised by ancient societies in philosophy, righting wrongs to heal, Holy Saiants. Although the term Law of Attraction may be relatively new, the principles that it embodies are said to have existed throughout the universe since time immemorial. In this blog, the writer explores the very foundation of the contrary principle – Law of Attraction and its base connecting it with the very first idealism of the idea (Hinduism) to see how historically and philosophically rooted this concept is.

Ancient Wisdom

The Law of Attraction is based on the ancient Hermetic philosophy, such as the Hermeticism attributed to Hermes Trismegistus. In the well-known Hermetic text, the Emerald Tablet, this philosophy is communicated with the maxim “As above, so below; as below, so above.” I consider this principle to be the basis for all attraction laws.

Vedic Traditions

The Vedic traditions of ancient India have a concept of the law of attraction. In these traditions, the law of cause and effect is referred to as “Karma, action which with its support causation, and intention which with its support destiny. A sacred text of Hinduism, the Bhagavad Gita speaks of the relationship of thoughts, actions, and events transpiring in your life.

New Thought Movement

The law of Attraction of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, together with the New Thought movement, has undergone a significant stage of development. Phineas Quimby, as well as Mary Baker Eddy and Emma Curtis Hopkins, played a decisive role in advocating the idea of the possible impact of people’s thoughts and beliefs on their lives. The principles of positive thinking, mental healing, and the power of mind were laid during this period.

The Power of Positive Thinking

One of the first works, fitting the classification, is the ground-breaking book The Power of Positive Thinking published in 1952 by Norman Vincent Peale. Because of the impact of that work on the self-help genre and, thus, the number of those who read it, it is, undoubtedly the major source popularizing the idea in question. The book is a combination of Christian theology and psychology, and while it does not seem directly persuasive to a free-thinker, its messages and concepts had a tremendous impact on a great many people.

“The Secret” Phenomenon

The Law of Attraction became a widely known concept in the 21st century when a documentary film, called The Secret was published and later developed into a book. The movie was released in 2006 and, according to the order, narrated the principles of the Law of Attraction. That was a claim expressing that thoughts could attract experiences of a similar nature into a person’s life. I should mention that the film was watched by millions of people, which introduced the concept to the entire world.

Modern Resonance

The Law of Attraction Central Teaching

The Law of Attraction is unquestionably the most damaging and limiting false belief system that is routinely passed onto others and certainly the most pervasive and treacherous one. It is likely to continue to do so for some time into the future. In the modern era, not only has it been given new life, but it also expanded its influence, thanks largely in part to the teachings of many authors, namely Louise Hay, Wayne Dyer, and Esther Hicks, who channels a group of non-physical entities collectively referred to as Abraham.

It needs to be pointed out that the teachings of the Law of Attraction have become more diversified and now encompass such practices as visualization, affirmations, and aligning one’s energy with the desired outcome.

Criticism and Skepticism

Although the Law of Attraction has become widely popular these days, it has been met with criticism and scepticism. As to the reasons for that, it may be said that first of all, such a simple thing as thought does not seem to be enough to solve such a complex thing as life. Moreover, reality is full of thousands and billions of factors influencing the desired results, which are claimed to be governed by the described law. Finally, sceptics often say that there are no scientific grounds discovered by physics for the Law of Attraction to be so effective in the described examples.

Hinduism and the Law of Attraction

Hinduism has a long-standing tradition of examining the connection between thought, action, and destiny. Karma is the term given in Hindu philosophy to the notion that our actions and intentions have consequences. A Hindu sacred text, the Bhagavad Gita, discusses the interplay of thought and action and how it affects one’s life.

The Law of Attraction in Hindu Scriptures

The Law of Attraction is not a direct translation of the Hindu scriptures, but it is an interpretation of the principles that could be found in these scriptures. The Hindu scriptures emphasise the necessity to ensure that people’s thoughts and actions are oriented towards higher spiritual principles which attract the corresponding positive energies.

Chamakam: A Vedic Stotra

A LAW OF ATTRACTION-FILLED INVOCATION: Chamakam is a Vedic stotra that is filled with the Law of Attraction. It is suggested to be chanted with a clean heart and the same is energized by chanting it in a temple exclusively for Shiva Linga. The filtering of thought process provided herewith is Kashta Nirasana rather than the Vision board concepts of the Law of Attraction.

Conclusion

The law of Attraction is not the tenet of Hinduism. But, the Law of Attraction is the variedly altered version of the ancient wisdom of Hindus. Many years of teachings are now diluted by modern systems such as the Law of Attraction. The “Law of Attraction” and all such selfish accumulation missions are the reverse of the “Law of Our Universe”. Because our spiritual well-being is hijacked by material well-being only.
